Here is how to use Skype for Business meetings and share your screen using Skype for business:

  1. Schedule a skype meeting through outlook:
    1.

While on the “Calendar tab of Outlook choosing New Skype Meeting in appointments.
    2. You will then invite who you would like to join the meeting
      1. You will need at lease one person in the required field.
      2. If you are inviting people outside of the Organization, they will need to download Skype in some fashion, if they are wanting to present or view screens.
      3. If they are just calling in, they can be added by phone number, but having Skype installed it all around the easiest.

  1. When calendar appt pops up, double click the appointment and choose Join Online

  1. You can choose the audio input for your end of the meeting.

  1. Using “Skype for Business” will only work if your PC has a mic and speakers.
  2. Using “Call me at” will automatically put in your desk phone, so if you are not at your desk, please input a number you can answer.

  1. Skype for business options:

  1. From left to right these buttons do the following:
    1. Toggle your camera in the meeting.
    2. Toggle your audio in the meeting (this won’t toggle your phone if you chose to call in).
    3. Initiate sharing of content (your screen).
    4. Exiting the meeting.

  1. Sharing your Desktop or Windows

  1. Sharing your Desktop will choose one, or more of your monitors and will share everything you see on that monitor.  This is needed to give access to someone to “take the wheel” and navigate on your PC.

  1. Once you select sharing your Desktop you can “Give Control” to anyone else who is in the meeting with the navigation at the top.
  2. While someone else has control, you can still click at the top and “Take Back Control”, and you also can choose to “Stop Sharing” when you are done sharing your Desktop.

  1. While someone is having control of your desktop, they are still limited in what they can do through Skype's security settings.
  2. They can view and open many files, but are unable to access Admin log ins and other features that pose a security risk.
  3. That being said, only give control to someone if you and the organization trust them with every file that is on your PC/Laptop.
  1. Sharing a Window is a lot like sharing your Desktop, except people are only able to see the “Window” or application that you wish to share.
  2. I would highly recommend using this option as people will only see the things within that one application, which you can switch to and from at a whim,
  3. without risking them seeing something else on your PC/Laptop
